Dr. Ruslan Maidans is a licensed general dentist who has been providing patient-centered dental care since 2016. He acquired Dr. Fales’ practice with the vision of creating a different kind of dental experience—one built on trust, education, transparency, and gentle, high-quality care.
Dr. Maidans believes dentistry works best as a partnership. His approach focuses on prevention, long-term oral health, and ensuring patients fully understand their options before making decisions about treatment. Whether a patient is coming in for a routine checkup or a more complex procedure, his priority is comfort, clarity, and individualized care.
Originally from Riga, Latvia, Dr. Maidans moved to the United States at age 17 and completed his undergraduate education in North Carolina. He went on to earn his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the Medical College of Virginia School of Dentistry (now VCU School of Dentistry).
After dental school, Dr. Maidans practiced in Virginia and California before relocating to New England in 2016, where he joined his wife, Yalda Shahriari-Maidans, following her faculty appointment in Biomedical Engineering at the University of Rhode Island.
Dr. Maidans is deeply committed to continuing education and lifelong learning. He has completed extensive postdoctoral training well beyond standard licensure requirements, allowing him to offer modern, evidence-based care.

Dr. Milas is a licensed general dentist who joins Gold Star Dental after 12 years of dedicated service to patients in the Groton area. Many in our community will remember her from her previous practice, where she built a reputation for gentle, compassionate care. After some time away, she’s excited to return to Groton and bring her expertise to our Gold Star Dental family.
Having spent over a decade caring for patients in the area, Dr. Milas developed lasting relationships with families throughout Groton. Now, she’s thrilled to reconnect with familiar faces – and probably a few new ones with better flossing habits (we hope!). Her deep understanding of our community’s dental needs, combined with her warm chairside manner, makes her a natural fit for our practice’s philosophy of patient-centered care.

Whether she’s helping a nervous child through their first cleaning or working with adults on comprehensive treatment plans, she takes the time to listen, explain procedures clearly, and ensure every patient feels heard and valued.
